I had the opportunity to travel with talented videographer and photographer, Ruben Gomez to Orange County to shoot Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for Compex USA. We didn't have a script, we just knew we were to focus on one particular athlete. From warms-ups to sparring, we were there grabbing shots and getting in the action, but in scenarios like these that are unplanned it's those little moments in time that really make this work exciting. Like having all the gear mostly packed up and our athlete is all alone after everyone else has gone home, still visualizing, still putting in the work. I shot and edited this video to promote a reunion show for the San Diego band Mower at House of Blues. Brian Sheerin, the lead singer and I discussed ideas over drinks one night and came up with this pretty fun little pink speaker beat-down sequence. Dark and gritty, with a touch of humor. This was shot in anamorphic with my old Panasonic GH2 in the old SikWorld clothing warehouse. My band Processor also played this show.

Shot over a week in sunny San Diego using an all friends and family cast. Even inserting myself in a few. Skateboarding with a Ronin M gimbal and heavy camera setup makes riding over cracks in the street much more difficult, I found out in the hardest of ways. I haven't eaten it that hard since I was a kid! Speaking of kids, I learned that my son has some pretty amazing timing for a rookie! Then again, he's grown up with a camera in his face at all times, so there's that.
