These are examples of video and motion graphics I put together to be shown on a large video wall at the AAOS: American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons annual meeting. In this clip are short example sections from 2019 and 2020.
A healthy combination of video and motion graphics combined with some transitional tricks. This video shows the process of a custom knee brace being created, from measurement and production back to the field. See what it takes to make a custom brace for an athlete. Shot with Ruben Gomez on Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro and Micro Cinema Cameras.
Food sustains life and brings us all together so it's no coincedence that food shows up quite a bit in the great paintings through art history. I was approached by artist and art blogger, Kirby Kendrick with an idea to encorporate paintings that involved food together in one animated video. We chatted briefly on how this could all be tied together, but it wasn't until later as I sat at my desk, that two words kept repeating in my head. "Eat" and "Art." I kept saying this over and over in my head and after a few times it easily turned into "Eat at Art," like those funny "Eat at Joes" diner signs from cartoons. This was all I needed. Kirby, with her vast art history knowledge provided the insight into paintings I could use and it all came together quickly from there. With those words and the great works of art masters this project was like an unkinked hose. This is why I begin with the Monet-style champagne bottle. Join me on a brief journey through art with a food flavor in, Eat at Art!
This is a behind the scenes look at how an establishing shot in an animated video can be created. You see everything from the sketch through to the final motion of the animation with atmospheric feel.
I created this animation for Meet SOCI back in 2012 to help describe their service in social media service. They feature one centralized platform built to address three stages of a successful localized social marketing program. To manage, deploy and boost content. They wrote the script and provided the character in a static form, then I created the storyboards and the animation. I worked with the voice talent David Heath to focus the voice over into a warm and playful vibe and I performed the character sounds.
Meet Soci Storyboard Samples
It’s always fun to work on a playful project like this. To work with this little guy to give him character and attitude, beyond the visual. To help us identify with his struggles and success. Here’s some samples of the storyboards I created and pitched to the company as I worked off the script they provided.
A project I was lead on that was most fun was the hugely successful online video game called Stack My Mac for McDonald’s. From the marketing strategy and advertising, to the game design and working with the animation and sound design with Andre Couturier, the experience of working on this project is still resonating with what I do today.
